Helen D. (Koski) DeCross, age 94, of Quincy passed away January 8, 2012 at Hancock Park Rehab and Nursing Center, Quincy. Wife of the late Albert DeCross she is survived by her daughters Donna M. Shea, wife of Dennis P. Shea and Karen McCaffery, wife of David McCaffery of Weymouth. She leaves three grandchildren, Cynthia Page and Dennis A. Shea of Weymouth and Daniel Shea of Bridgewater, three great-grandchildren and several nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was born in Milford, New Hampshire the youngest of seven and she came to Quincy to join her sisters and seek employment during the depression and she has resided in Quincy since then. When her daughters were in school she went to work for the Raytheon Company in the 1950’s and retired from the company in 1982. While working at Raytheon she made many close, long-lasting friendships. Family and friends were a big part of Helen’s life. Helen and Al enjoyed traveling extensively, even visiting their parents’ respective homelands of Finland and Italy. However, Aruba was their preferred destination.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 11 from 9:00am to 10:30am at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home, 74 Elm Street, Quincy Center. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00am at St. John’s Church 44 School St., Quincy. Burial is at Mt. Wollaston Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations to the Hancock Park Employees Appreciation Fund, 164 Parkingway, Quincy, MA 02169 in gratitude to all the people who have cared about and cared for Helen in her declining years.
