Helen V. (Singleton) Arey of Quincy passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at age 87. Born in Boston where she was raised and educated, she lived in Quincy for 54 years. A homemaker, Helen was a member of St. Mary’s Senior Citizens and the VFW Carter Post Auxiliary in Needham.

The beloved wife for 65 years of the late Robert A. Arey, Helen was the loving mother of Frances Reifenstahl and her husband Dean of Westfield, Dr. Janet Arey and her husband Roger Atkinson of Riverside, CA, Linda Wheeler and her husband Al of Berwick, ME, Dr. Anne Marie Arey of Lee’s Summit, MO, Virginia Hueras and her husband Jon of Chelmsford, Karen Arey-MacKay and her husband Richard of Pembroke, Brenda Grane of Aliso Viejo, CA and Robert A. Arey, Jr. and his wife Deborah of Tewksbury; dear sister of Frances Burke of PA and is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Sept. 16 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Saturday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Church 115 Crescent St. Quincy. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
