Irene V. (Sheehan) Howland of Quincy passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at age 81. Born in Dorchester where she was raised and educated, she lived in Quincy for 61 years and worked at Jordan Marshs and Macy’s as a sales clerk. The beloved wife of Charles H. Howland with whom she shared 61 years of marriage, Irene was the loving mother of Judith M. Chagnon and her husband John of Braintree, Janice M. Cangemi  and her husband Al of Scituate and Kenneth C. Howland and his wife Beverly of Braintree; devoted grandmother of John, Jason,  and Meghan Chagnon, Michael and Brittney Cangemi, and Abigail and Zachary Howland; great-grandmother of Charles Joseph (CJ), Ryan, Brandon, and Samantha Chagnon; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Irene enjoyed crocheting, knitting, baking and spending time with her precious family.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 24 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Saturday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church 550 Washington St. Quincy. Burial is at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
