Obituaries

James E. Leone of Pittsburgh PA, formerly of Miami FL, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2014 after a long illness.  He was born on November 14, 1933 in Quincy MA to Anselm and Lena Leone.  Jim graduated from Williams College and MIT and worked as a mechanical engineer, researcher, and scientist in a long and distinguished career.  His work produced over 30 individual patents and his design and management work were instrumental in developing modern radiation dosimetry detectors, ophthalmic lasers, implantable pacemakers, angioplastic stent technology, and orthopedic devices.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Arlene (Hayes); two sons Dr. Bruce Leone (Christine) and Gary Leone (Bonni); a daughter Susan Leone; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers Ronald Leone (Martha) and John Leone (Linda); a sister Lois Constantino (Joseph).  A visiting hour will be held on Saturday, April 26 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM immediately followed by a Memorial Service at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home, 74 Elm Street, Quincy Center.  Interment to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, 815 Willard Street, Quincy MA.
