James J. Inglis, Jr. of Quincy & Melbourne, FL passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015 at age 89. A lifelong Quincy resident he was a US Navy Veteran of WWII and Korea and worked as a chief steam engineer at Braintree Light for 8 years and Boston Edison for 25. Jim loved woodworking and carving birds, car mechanics and was an avid boater, camper and mountain climber. He taught at Peterson School of engineering and was a member of the George F. Bryant VFW Post, the Weymouth Lodge of Elks, the Braintree Masonic Lodge and the Scots’ Charitable Society of Boston.

The beloved husband of Jennie (Emanuele) Inglis, to whom he was married for nearly 67 years, Jim was the loving father of James of Milbrook, NY, Michael and his wife Carolyn of Marshfield, Joseph and his wife Shelly of Mashpee, Thomas and his wife Beth of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Jack and Nancy of Weymouth, David and his wife Debbie of Loveland, OH, Edward and his wife Laura of Holbrook, Peter of Nashua, NH and Paul of Somerville; dear grandfather of Sarah, Carly, Julie, Sandi, Donald, Nicole, Chris, Angela, James, Shawn, Amanda, Adam, Ashley, Abigail, Andrew Alaura, Aaron, Aiden and Anthony; great-grandfather of Keeghan, Kyle, Daniel, Lylah and Ava; Beloved brother of Patricia Jones of Brockton and the late William, Florence & Marie; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, September 15 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Wednesday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at St. Joseph Church 550 Washington St. Quincy. Burial with Military Honors is at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
