James Thomas “Big T” German of Weymouth passed away at Weymouth Health Care on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at age 80. Born in Quincy where he was raised and educated, he lived in Quincy and Weymouth all his life. Big T had worked for the telephone company, but followed his passion for boating, first as a partner for many years at Bill’s Outboard in Quincy with Fran Kraus and Ernest Taylor and then for 20 years as the owner of Big T’s Marina in Weymouth.
The beloved husband of Joanne D. (Woodman) German, he was the father of James T. German of Manomet, Elaine Marie McLaughlin of Pembroke and Sheryl Ann Banas of Scituate, brother of Shirley M. Kraus and her husband Fran of Hingham and is also survived by his grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 20 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Wednesday there will be a gathering atthe funeral home at 9:00am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at St. Joseph’s Church, Quincy Point. Burial is at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
