James W. Thomson, age 83, of Quincy passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 3, 2011 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. A lifelong Quincy resident, he served in the Navy during WWII and worked as a lineman for Boston Edison for 46 years. A member of the Town River Yacht Club, Jim enjoyed cruising on his boat, working on his home and spending winters in Florida.

The beloved husband of Barbara (McCarthy) Thomson, Jim was the loving father of Dr. Louise Thomson of Randolph and Laura Thomson of E. Walpole; uncle of Julie McQuarrie and dear brother of the late Margaret Graham, Jean Leneau and Adam Thomson.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, December 7 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Thursday there will be a Funeral Service 10:30AM at the funeral home conducted by Rev. William Harding. Burial is at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.
