Johanna “Joan” Hennessey of Quincy passed away at the Forestview Nursing Home in Wareham on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at age 90. Born in Boston she was raised and educated in Everett and worked for 30 years for Aetna Insurance in Boston. For many years Joan was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Quincy Point and was active in the charismatic prayer group.
The beloved sister of the late May Margaret Murphy, she was the loving aunt of Kevin J. Murphy of Wareham, Christopher G. Murphy of Plymouth, Mary Hennessey of Marlboro, Michael Hennessey of NH and the late Maureen Oliva, as well as several grand nieces and grand nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 10 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Wednesday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at St. Joseph’s Church 550 Washington St. Quincy. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery.
