Obituaries

John E. Martin of Pembroke, formerly of Plymouth, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at age 78. Born in Dorchester, he graduated from Quincy High School and Boston College with an Associate’s Degree. A Veteran of the US Army and Navy Reserves, John worked as a mechanic for the MBTA until retiring. The beloved husband of  Ellen “Helen” (Wynne) Martin, he was the loving father of Mary Queenen of Whitman, Patti Holbrook and her husband Tom of Braintree, Sean Martin and his wife Anne of Braintree, Michael Martin of Pembroke and Sheila Jerosh and her husband Stephen of Marshfield; dear grandfather of Matthew, Seanna, Ryan, Dean, Liam, Jamie, Maura, Ana, Aidan, Maya and Kelly; great-grandfather of Andrew, Riley and Keira; and is also survived by his brother, James F. Martin of Mashpee.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 4 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Thursday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 900AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at St. Joseph’s Church 550 Washington St. Quincy. Burial is at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
