John J. Hanrahan of Weymouth, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2019 at age 86. Born in Boston, where he was raised and educated, he lived for 14 years in Milton before moving to Weymouth. John served in the US Army during the Korean War, stationed at Bad Kreuznach DET 7812 in Germany and received his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Political Science from Boston University. For 39 years he taught school for the City of Boston, retiring in 1999 and was a real estate broker in Boston and Quincy for 52 years.

The beloved husband of Theresa B. (Broussard) Hanrahan, John was the loving father of John L.. Hanrahan and his wife Christine of Attleboro and Heather Jamieson and her husband Eric of North Weymouth; doting grandfather of Connor, Justin, Trevor, Shane and Cameron; son of the late Edward F. and Edna M. (Aroian) Hanrahan; dear brother of James J. Hanrahan and his wife Borinka of CA, Leo E. Hanrahan and his wife Lynne of Framingham, Phillip J. Hanrahan and his wife Mary June of WI, Ann Crickett and her husband Brian of Quincy and the late Edward F. Hanrahan, Charles W. Hanrahan and June M. Lambert; brother-in-law of Georgina Broussard, Margaret (Coughlin) Hanrahan, Carolyn (Skeffington) Hanrahan and the late Ralph O. Lambert; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours which will be held on Wednesday, November 20 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. On Thursday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30AM at St. Jerome’s Church 632 Bridge St, North Weymouth. Burial with Military Honors is at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
