John J. “Jack” Nugent of Falmouth passed away at home on Friday, October 1, 2010 at age 63. Born in Quincy, where he was raised and educated, he graduated from Quincy High and received an honorary Doctorate in Business from Suffolk University. A member of the National Guard, he started his career at Child World where he became VP of Operations and moved on to BJ’s Wholesale Club where he became President and CEO before retiring in 2003. Proud of his philanthropy, he was honored with the Man of the Year Award from Cardinal Cushing School and with the invitation to ring in the NY Stock Exchange. Jack enjoyed wintering in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and summers on Cape Cod and spent his retirement years with grandkids.

The beloved husband of Laurene M. (Burke) Nugent, Jack was the loving father of Kim Heaslip and her husband Chris of Naples, FL, Scott Nugent of Jensen Beach, FL, dear grandfather of Kelsie, Hailey and Owen Heaslip and Chase, Samantha and Tyler Nugent. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Bib Marsters of Mashpee and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, October 6 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Thursday there will be a Funeral Service at the Funeral Home at 1:00pm. Cremation will follow.
