Obituaries

John W. Steen of Quincy passed away peacefully at his son’s home in Woonsocket, RI on Monday, December 6, 2011 at age 84. A lifelong Hough’s Neck resident, he started clamming at age 15 and continued for 67 years until 2010 when illness forced him to retire. A US Army veteran of the Korean War, John was a devout Catholic and loved being with his family and grandchildren.

He was the loving father of Lisa Steen and her partner Maureen of Methuen, TJ and his wife Debbi of Woonsocket, RI and John W. Steen, Jr. of San Francisco; dear grandfather of Ashley Rose and Matthew John Steen of Woonsocket; beloved brother of Thomas and Joseph Steen, both of Quincy, Dorothy Burgess of Marshfield and the late James Steen and Mary Tegan; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Friday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Trinity Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1017 Sea St. Quincy. Burial with Military Honors will be at Mt. Wollaston Cemetery.
