Obituaries

Joseph P. Marsden, 73, of Quincy died on Friday, March 2, 2012 at Tufts Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends. Originally from Charlestown, the son of the late Vincent and Mary Marsden, Joe worked as a machinist for 8 years at DJ Cutter and for 22 years at Industrial Engineering and Machine in Braintree. A longtime Houghs Neck resident, he was an avid boater and fisherman, was a member of the Town River Yacht Club and enjoyed travelling.

The beloved husband of Rita F. (Bleiler) Marsden, Joe was the loving father of Kimberly R. Morris and her husband Dean of Braintree and Laura A. Mahlum and her husband Shad of Weymouth; dear grandfather of Rivers, Avalon, Rhain and Keyes Morris and Emmalynn and Molly Mahlum; brother of John ‘Jack” Marsden of Wilmington, Mary Bickford of Boston, James Marsden and the late Vincent Marsden, William Marsden and Joan Shinnick.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, March 6 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Wednesday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1017 Sea St. Quincy. Burial is at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
