Josephine L. “Josie: Carnali passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at age 86. A lifelong Quincy resident, she worked in the Quincy City Clerk’s Office for 47 years and served as secretary to the City Council. Josie was very active all her life. She was a secretary in the early years of the MA Beach Buggy Assoc. and secretary and treasurer of the Widow & Widowers’ Club. A volunteer for the Telephone Pioneers, Josie knitted and sewed lap robes and wheel chair caddies which were given to veterans and patients at the VA Hospitals. An enthusiastic cook and an avid gardener, she enjoyed years of dancing with her late husband Lawrence “Sonny”. Lifelong fond memories were created camping on Nauset Beach, where she would cook up the fish that Sonny and their son Danny would catch.

The loving wife of the late Lawrence “Sonny” Carnali, Josie was the cherished mother of Daniel Carnali and his wife Jenni of Lakeville, devoted grandmother of Adriana Mazzola, Anthony Carnali and Christopher Carnali; great-grandmother of Christopher Carnali, Jr.; beloved sister of Margaret Fantuchio of FL, Anna Rando and her husband Eddie of FL and Johnnie DeMaggio and his wife Marie of Quincy; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Friday, April 29, from 4:00 to 8:00PM  at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. On Saturday there will be a  gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at St. John the Baptist Church 44 School St. Quincy. Cremation will follow.

Josie’s family send their special thanks to the Life Care Center of Raynham and the Beacon Hospice for their attentive care. Donations in her memory may be made to the MA Beach Buggy Assoc. PO Box 1264, Harwich, MA 02645.
