May you rest in peace, my friend.. although we only met a couple of times when you were here in Portland for a gathering of your fellow veterans... I so enjoyed our time together ...through letters we learned of each others happiness and sorrows and became such close 'pen pals' as they called it in the 'good old days'. I am sorry that our letters became fewer in between than in the beginning ... I guess I got a little busy traveling when David and I both found ourselves retired and it was hard to write being out on the high seas... I was always amazed at all you did to keep your mind going, the tai chi, looking after the entrance to your home, and the walks, the writings that you sent to me to read of your past experiences... the love that you had for your children and how proud you were of each one of them... may we meet again up yonder when the roll is called.........
