Julia S. Murphy of Quincy passed away on Friday, August 9, 2013 at age 91. Raised and educated in Boston, she graduated from St. Augustine’s High School, So. Boston, the Comptomer School and Bentley College. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service as a taxpayer service representative in Boston for 26 years before retiring in 1982. In her retirement years Julia enjoyed travelling and sewing.
The beloved daughter of the late John S. and Catherine C. (Battles) Murphy, Julia was the loving sister of the late Anna P. Murphy of Quincy and is survived by many cousins, including Maryalice Cummings and her husband Martin who cared for her in her later years.
Family and friends are invited to a visiting hour on Wednesday, August 14 starting at 9:00AM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center, immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at St. Joseph’s Church 550 Washington St. Quincy. Burial is at New Calvary Cemetery, Boston.
