Lawrence P. Faherty “Larry Links”, age 61, passed away suddenly at MGH after a brief illness on Saturday, May 31, 2014. A 1971 graduate of North Quincy High School, he maintained many friendships from childhood to adulthood. His passing has been a devastating loss for all who knew him, who will miss his sense of humor, giving nature, love for his family and friends and his many stories, all of which were true.

A man of many talents, Larry worked for several government agencies on various projects throughout the years. He provided sound for the world during Pope John Paul II’s 1979 visit to Boston, as well as for many well-known national acts, traveling around the US and Canada during the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. He built sound systems for numerous clubs and spent many nights working as a DJ at the Beachcomber on Wollaston Beach. When he wasn’t working, Larry enjoyed spending time with nature, whether at Nantasket Beach, Blue Hill Reservation or in his own back yard. He also enjoyed all different types of music, listening to or playing it himself.

His finest achievement, of which he was the most proud, as he stated many times, was his daughter Catherine Mary Farish, who with her  husband Sgt. Nicholas Farish USMC, lives in Richlands, NC. Larry is also survived by his fiancée and best friend, Nancy Hollandsworth of Norton; his godmother, “Auntie Kay” Catherine Mary Faherty; his daughter’s mother Colleen O’Neil and Colleen’s parents, Richard and Jacqueline O’Neil. He was the loving brother of Colleen Giacomozi and her husband Peter, Dennis Faherty, Brian Faherty and the late Timothy Faherty. Larry had a large extended family that includes many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all.

There were be a memorial visitation on Friday, June 6 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited to come and share their memories of Larry.
