Leo F. Burns, Jr. of Quincy passed away on Monday, August 1, 2011 at age 72. Born in Boston where he was raised and educated, he served in the US Navy and worked as a truck driver as a member of the Teamsters Local 25.
The beloved husband of Barbara A. (Grealish) Burns, Leo was the loving father of Jack Burns of Weymouth, Leo Burns of Quincy, Lisa (Burns) MacKenzie of Quincy and Michael Burns of NY; cherished grandfather of Christopher, Torrey, Ryan, Casey and Leo Burns and Kevin, Jordan and Jillian MacKenzie; dear brother of Claire McAulliffe and her husband Kevin of Wareham, Kevin Burns and his wife Sue of Braintree, Robert Burns of Quincy and Gary Burns of Pembroke; beloved brother-in-law of Jack & Marilyn Grealish of Burlington, Michael & Kathy Grealish, Matthew Grealish and Helen Sylva, all of Braintree and Dale Olegard of NY.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 5 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Saturday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Church 44 School St. Quincy. Burial will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
