Lorna Marie Darois (Volpe), 69, passed away on September 13, 2021. She worked the wallpaper department at Factory Paint in Pembroke, MA, and could pair colors with the likes of Rothko and Matisse. She was the daughter of Sadie (Napoli, Darois) Pittsley and raised with her loving stepfather Tom Pittsley. She was mother to Erik (Eugenio) Volpe of Los Angeles, CA and Leah (Volpe) Picewick of Hull, MA. She loved wearing matching pajamas with her daughter-in-law Sara McCabe and being fed prime cuts of meat by her son-in-law Michael Picewick. She absolutely worshipped her grandchildren, Olivia, Mason, Ryan, and Grace Picewick, and Ronan McCabe Volpe.
Lorna was the fiercely loving sister of Alfred Darois of Weymouth, Dana (Darois) Sullivan (predeceased), Paula Darois of Weymouth, and Tom Pittsley of Milford. She was godmother and loving aunt to Cliff Richardson (predeceased), Scott Richardson, Lisa Richardson, Thomas Richardson, Michelle (Sullivan) Urnek, Matthew Darois, Marc Darois, Jillian Darois, Christopher Pittsley, Jessica Pittsley, Michael Pugliesi, Suzanne (Verlicco) Tapper. She was also blessed by the love of her saintly sisters-in-law Aileen Duffy Darois and Maureen (Feeney) Pittsley.
Lorna had the face of Jackie O and the overhand right of Rocky Marciano. She drove her 2014 Toyota Camry like it was a Maserati Quattroporte. Nobody, and I repeat nobody, could devour a lobster with her technical proficiency. It’s been rumored that she kept up to 11lbs of butter in her freezer at all times, hoarding each stick like a bar of gold. A longtime resident of Marshfield, she loved its beaches and convivial community. She will be forever cherished and missed by all who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday, September 20th from 4:00PM-7:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. On Tuesday there will be a service in the Funeral Home at 10:00AM.
