Louise V. Callahan, of Quincy, MA, died peacefully at her home on September 5, 2023. Louise emigrated to the U.S., arriving in NY from Holland on her birthday in 1957, and graduated from South Boston High School.

Louise “Uma” took great pride in her work at the Fenno House Cafe and Boston Symphony Orchestra, but the center of her world was her family. She cherished each moment with her grandsons, attending every game and activity. Her creativity and imagination peaked each Halloween, creating her own costumes, each year more unique than the last. She loved being a grandmother and spending time with family and her lifelong friends. She appreciated the simple things… red lipstick, fun glasses and a colorful variety of hair styles. She has left us in a world with less color, but so very grateful for the sparkle in her eye and mischievous spirit that contributed to so many cherished memories and appreciation of finding joy in each moment.

Loving mother of Layla Flaherty and her husband Ethan, and grandmother of Malcolm, Jaden, and Calvin of Braintree, MA. Survived by her sister Maria Bryla and niece Melissa Falcone. Predeceased by her parents, Henry and Corrine (Caris) Bryla, her beloved husband Thomas “Tucker” Callahan, and her brothers Edward Bryla and Steven Bryla.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm, to be followed immediately by a funeral service from 5:00 – 6:00 pm, in the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home, 74 Elm Street, Quincy, MA 02169 www.dennissweeneyfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated in Louise’s name to the Fenno House Association, 540 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA 02170. Proceeds will benefit the activities programs at the Fenno House.
