Lt. John F. Mulligan, QPD Retired, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at age 87.  A lifelong Quincy resident, he was a Veteran of WWII USMC. After working for several years as a pipe fitter for Local 537, John joined the Quincy Police Department where he served for 35 years and received numerous citations. He was a member of the Furnace Brook Golf Course and a life member of the YMCA.

The beloved husband of Frances D. (Stefanik) Mulligan, John was the loving father of the late Janet Ramirez; step father Gerard D. Britt, MSP. Ret., of Quincy, Thomas E. Britt of Quincy and Richard D. Britt of Naples, FL; brother of the late Paul Mulligan; and is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, November 12 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Wednesday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church 550 Washington St. Quincy. Burial with Military Honors will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, W. Quincy.
