Lucille M. (Ruel) Spring of Braintree passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013 at age 86. Born in Rochester, NH where she was raised speaking French, she graduated from Spaulding High in 1944. She then enlisted in the Women’s Cadet Corps and did her registered nurse’s training at Notre Dame in Manchester, NH. After WWII, Lucille worked at MA General Hospital. She met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Spring at an Arthur Murray dance class.They were married for 37 years before his death in 1998. She semi-retired to help him every Friday at his business, Marine Market. Moving to Braintree in 1966, Lucille was active in parent groups at Morrison School and East Jr. High, was a Braintree Band Booster and volunteered for St. Clare’s Pine Street group and at Braintree Respiratory Hospital.

The beloved mother of Gail Spring and her husband Stuart T. Schrier of Quincy, R. Kenneth Spring, Jr. of Braintree and the late Robert K. Spring, Lucille was the loving grandmother of Lindsay Spring Schrier of Quincy and Danielle, Jaclyn and Sarah Schrier of Cambridge . She will also be missed by her large family of nursing friends and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, June 13 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Friday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at St. Clare’s Church 1244 Liberty St. Braintree. Burial is at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

Donations in Lucille’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society’s Quincy Relay for Life 1005 Dorchester Ave. Boston, MA 02125.
