Margaret A. “Peggy” (Kelly) Menard, of New Bedford, formerly of Quincy, passed away at the Sacred Heart Home on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at age 79. Born in Newport, RI, where she was raised and educated, she lived in Quincy for 34 years before moving to New Bedford in 1985. A homemaker, she enjoyed traveling. Peggy’s family was the most important thing in her life.

The beloved wife of Leonard R. Menard, she is the devoted mother of John L. Menard of Brockton, Shirley M. Benoit of West Wareham and Gail M. Reed of Lowell and dear grandmother of Kathleen Williams, William Dooley, Michael Menard, Megan Menard, Jeanne Reed and Stephen Benoit, Jr. Peggy is also survived by her sister Elizabeth Ferreira of Portsmouth, RI.

Visiting hours will be on Sunday, April 26 from 2:00 to 6:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Monday at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Church. Burial is at Mt. Wollaston Cemetery.
