Marjorie Irene (Smollett) O’Leary, a lifelong West Quincy resident, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 100 years of age. A 1934 graduate of Quincy High, she is believed to have been the last surviving member. In her younger years, she worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone and Sheridan’s Dept. Store in Quincy and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and St. Mary’s Senior Citizens. A founding member of the Emerald Nuts, a social club for West Quincy mothers, Marjorie also enjoyed knitting and crocheting and worked the St. Mary’s Bazaar for 35 years.

The beloved wife of the late James O’Leary, Marjorie was the loving mother of James O’Leary and his wife Sharon of Quincy, Robert O’Leary and his wife Debra of CO, Gerard O’Leary and his wife Dianna of Whitman, Mary Kati Shea and her husband Kevin of Tewksbury, Barbara Ashey and her husband Travis of Searsport, ME and the late Edward O’Leary, and is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours which will be held on Monday, October 3 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. On Tuesday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at St. Mary’s Church 115 Crescent St. W. Quincy. Burial is at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
