Mary Edith Steinkrauss passed peacefully into eternal life on January 1st, 2018. Born on August 14, 1923 to Antoinette M. (Ronca) and Albert W. Steinkrauss in Cambridge, MA, she was the older sister of the late Francis John Steinkrauss, formerly of Weymouth and Theresa Gertrude Mikkola, formerly of Idaho Falls, ID. She was the loving aunt of Neal Francis Steinkrauss and his wife Antoinette of Weymouth, David Paul Steinkrauss of Middleboro and his late wife Ann Marie, Phillip Joseph Steinkrauss and his wife Denise of Weymouth, the late Richard Albert Steinkrauss of Weymouth, the late Andrew Mikkola of Idaho Falls and the late Frederick Mikkola of Westminster, CO, and many great and grand nieces and nephews.

Mary Steinkrauss was a long-time resident of Quincy. She worked at Quincy City Hospital for forty years and spent twenty-five years employed at St. John the Baptist Church. After her retirement, Mary assisted in the office of St. Joseph’s Church in Quincy Point. A devout Catholic, she was associated with the Sisters of the Cenacle in Brighton for many years, devoting much time in helping them with their work.

In her younger years, Mary was an avid painter and delighted in taking photos of her family and friends. She loved cats, reading and crocheting. Mary spent the last four years of her life at the John Scott Nursing Home in Braintree where she received excellent care from dedicated nurses and aides. The family is extremely grateful for their devotion to Mary.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 5th at 11:00AM at St. Thomas More Church, 9 Hawthorn Rd, Braintree. A calling hour will precede the Mass starting at 10:00AM at the church. Burial is at Pine Hill Cemetery.
