Mary F. (Carew) Sullivan, 85 years old, died peacefully in her daughter’s home in Alexandria VA on March 11, 2014.  Mary was proudly born in Brooklyn, NY on December 3, 1928 moving to Houghs Neck Quincy, MA in 1959 after her marriage to the late John J. Sullivan.  Mary’s greatest joy was taking care of her children, the late John Michael Sullivan of Quincy and Ann Marie (Sullivan) Henshaw of Alexandria, VA as well as her grandchildren Katie, Michael and Abigail Henshaw.  Mary was a devoted parishioner at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Houghs Neck where she taught CCD and was a member of Our Lady’s Sodality.  She truly made “the Neck” her home and was active in many community events.  Mary worked at Dunkin Donuts for many years and was known for her friendly smile and caring attitude towards customers. Mary moved to Virginia in 2007 and joined Blessed Sacrament Catholic Community of Alexandria. The beloved wife of the late John J. Sullivan, Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Robert Henshaw, as well as by her grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy (Carew) Agres of Norwell and by her many cousins, nieces and nephews, most notably, J.P. Agres formerly of Quincy, now of Weymouth. Mary was predeceased by her sister, Ann McGuinness, and brother, Michael Carew.  Mary will be missed dearly by her loving family and many close friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 14 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Saturday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at Holy Trinity Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church 44 Darrow St. Quincy.
