Obituaries

Mary J. (Trasky) Flaherty of Quincy passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday April 6, 2014 at age 90.  She was born in Boston where she was raised and educated before moving to Stoughton to raise her family. The beloved wife of the late Raymond F. Flaherty, Mary was the loving mother of Carol Larsen and her husband Bob of Quincy & Punta Gorda, FL, John Flaherty and his wife Linda of Troy MI, Raymond Flaherty of Brockton, Patrick Flaherty and his husband John Wooldridge of Provincetown, William Flaherty and his wife Denise of San Diego, Robert Flaherty of Quincy, and Elizabeth Hanley and her husband Kevin of North Andover; dear loving grandmother of Alicia, Colleen, and Kyle Hanley and Michael and Chad Zielesch; sister of the late Stella Florio Doiron, Jean Lynch and Peter, Lexi and Vincent Trasky; and is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Green and Evelyn McLaughlin, and many nieces and nephews.

Mary lived each day with joy and enthusiasm and always had a sparkle in her eyes and a smile on her face. She enjoyed traveling to Florida, Maine and New York City visiting and spending time with family and friends. She was a lifelong Red Sox fan and was very proud to attend the celebratory World Series parade in Boston.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 11 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Saturday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at St Vincent Church 363 E. St. So. Boston. Burial is at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
