Obituaries

Mary M. Duncan of Quincy passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at age 94.  Born in Dorchester where she was raised and educated, she graduated from the Jeremiah Burke High School. An entertainer, she sang and danced at night clubs in Boston’s Scollay Square and throughout New England. She also worked for the City of Boston, retiring as shop steward in central supply at Boston City Hospital.

The beloved wife of the late Robert B. Duncan, Mary was the loving mother of Rosemarie Fernandes and her late husband Jerald of Quincy, Christine Harrington and her husband Ronald of Scituate, Denise Duncan and Lynn Stefano, both of Quincy and the late William Duncan and Michele Duncan; devoted grandmother of Robert Fernandes, Paul Parnell, Denise Woolf and her  husband Darren, William Parnell and his wife Sarah, and Geraldine Fernandes and Brian Beers; dear sister of William Guerard and his wife Barbara of Dorchester and the late Frank Guerard,  Jeanette Terrell and Rosemarie Tinory. She is also survived by 35 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, November 5 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 10:00AM at St. John the Baptist Church. Burial at Pine Hill Cemetery.
