Melino “Mel” Stracco of Quincy passed away on Friday, February 6, 2015 at age 92. Born in Abruzzi, Italy, he served in the Italian Army during WWII, moved to Quincy 70 years ago and worked as a sandblaster at the Fore River Shipyard before retiring. The beloved husband of Ida P. (Pace) Stracco, to whom he was married for 64 years, Mel was the loving father of Rita C. Bower of Quincy, Robert M. Stracco of Weymouth, Rose Marie Falcetta of Brockton and the late Robert D. Stracco; dear grandfather of Paul, Kyle and Derek Falcetta, Cori and Lisamarie DeCristoforo and Gianpiero and Giuliano Stracco; great-grandfather of Mia, Gianna, Jayden and Mila; son of the late Dominic and Crisanta Stracco; brother of the late William Stracco, Maria Marinelli and Dora Lalama; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 13 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. On Saturday there will be a Funeral Service in the funeral home chapel at 10:00AM. Burial is at Mt. Wollaston Cemetery.
