Michael Carey Bennett of Houghs Neck went to a better place on Friday, February 1, 2013 at age 58, after suffering from complications of diabetes. A lifelong Quincy resident, he graduated from Quincy High and had worked at UMass Boston, Carney Hospital and West Marine in Braintree until his illness forced him to retire. He had an awesome spirit, wit and intelligence and an unfathomable strength that helped him live through so many months and years of pain. He loved his family, his friends, Quincy Bay and boats, especially the wooden ones.

The beloved son of Patricia (Bowen) Bennett of Quincy and the late Paul A. Bennett, Michael was the brother and best friend of Paul of Long Beach, NY, Brenda of Bangor ME and the late Sean Edward. He is also survived by his Goddaughter and niece, Lindsay Witham of Quincy and will be dearly missed by his extended family of cousins in Sharon, Bridgewater, CT, OH, RI and FL.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday February 10 from 2:00 to 5:00PM with a Funeral Service immediately following at 5:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. Cremation will follow.
