Nancy L. McLain born July 3 1941 Boston MA to Agnes Marie Conboy and Norman Waterman. Raised lovingly by Maura and Charles Reynolds. Married to the love of her life, Francis “Butchy” McLain. Attended school in Boston and France. Graduated from Long Island Nursing School.
Nancy loved to quilt and was a prize winning quilter at the Marshfield fair and other shows. She was a member of Crosstown Quilters Guild and Herring Run Guild. She taught quilting to many at Braintree High School Adult Education and the Senior Center at Southern Artery in Quincy. She felt a special pleasure in making quilts for family and friends. Over the years Nancy made quilts for various charities including the Dianne Divanna Center for women and Children.
She loved to travel with Butchy and drove cross country many times. They also visited Hawaii, Alaska, Ireland, France, Austrailia. She also went on many quilting retreats and travelled to see quilt shows. Nancy loved music and had a wonderful singing voice. She especially loved Elvis Presley and Godspell.
She was a loving mother to children Judie MacDonald (John) of Glendale Arizona, Ann Provenzano (Peter Barnard) of Tamworth NH, Christopher Provenzano (Darlene McDonough) of Boston, Kenneth Provenzano (Gretchen) of Carver MA, Francis McLain, Jr (Jenny Ostrom) of Merrimack NH, Anna Mazurkiewicz (Edward) of Brockton MA, Lisa McLain (Dominic Goodhart) of Carlisle PA, Predeceased by Wayne McLain. She also leaves behind her sister Cree Waterman of Fort Bragg, CA and 25 beloved Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Friday, January 28th from 4:00PM-7:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home, 74 Elm St., Quincy Center. On Monday there will be a service in the Funeral Home at 10:00AM. Burial to follow at Plain Street Cemetery in Braintree.
