Nicholas Zannis of Quincy passed away on December 14, 2014 at age 80. Born in New York where he was raised and educated, he was a veteran of the Korean War who proudly served in the Navy aboard the USS Missouri. After his discharge, Nick followed his brother to Boston where he met his wife Loretta to whom he was married for 56 years. They moved to Quincy where they lived for 53 years and raised their 5 children. Nick worked at Morey Pearls, Durgin Park and for the Quincy Public Schools Dept. for 30 years before retiring at the age of 72. He enjoyed his retirement, spending most of his time with his 10 grandchildren.

Nick is survived by his wife Loretta (Peckham); his son Stephen and his wife Cathy of Brockton; his daughters, Cheryl Norton and her husband Kevin of Quincy, Lisa Meighan and her husband Sean of Quincy, Nicole Olshansky and her husband Eric of Stoughton and Melissa Reynolds and her husband Danny of Quincy; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Nicholas, Alexandra, Kathleen, Sean, Olivia, Helena, Evan, Kyle and Danny. The son of the late Demitris and Mary (Pendaki) Zannis, he was the brother of Cleo Barry, Katie Nicholaus, Marcia Glackin, all of NY and the late Despina Bany, Bob Zannis and George Zannis; and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 19 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Saturday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00AM at St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church 119 Common St. Braintree. Burial is at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
