Obituaries

Norma J. (Johnson) Mellyn of Quincy passed away at Quincy Medical Center on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at age 77. Born in Dedham, she was raised there and then in Quincy where she lived most of her life. A homemaker, she enjoyed knitting, reading and traveling and was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church Ladies Sodality and choir.

The beloved wife for 53 years of Arthur R. Mellyn, Norma was the loving mother of Susan M. Curran and her husband Barry S. of Plymouth, Kevin R. Mellyn of Quincy, Kathleen A. Mitchell of Plymouth, Deborah J. Vecchione and her late husband David G., Nancy E. Mellyn, Peter A. Mellyn and David M. Mellyn and his wife Simone, all of Quincy and dear grandmother of David Vecchione, Jr., Timothy and Danielle Vecchione, Matthew, Britttany and Rebecca Mitchell and David Mellyn, Jr. She was the sister of the late Irene Cross and is also survived by her nephew Robert Cross of Randolph.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 15 from 2:00 to 6:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Monday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1017 Sea St. Quincy. Burial is at Pine Hill Cemetery.
