Richard Cregan Young (Dick) (Bongo) age 76, of Quincy died Sunday, October 17, 2021 peacefully at home after a short battle with cancer.

Dick was a proud lifelong Quincy Point resident, some would say legend. Born to Richard and Theresa (Decross) Young; brother to the late Diane Marie Young.

Dick graduated QHS in 1963 and joined the Coast Guard Reserves and served from 1966-1972 where he became a sheet metal apprentice and worked for the Shipyard for 10 years. He also worked at Goodhues Engraving. Dick worked for Quincy Public Schools for 35 years as a head custodian.

Beloved husband of the love of his life Frances (White) Young; father of the late Diane Theresa Young, Christine Brennan of Quincy Point, and Laurie Solano and her husband Mike of NH; grandfather to Kaylee, Lauren, Brianna, Daniel, Michael, Christian, and Mikey Jr.; great grandfather to Luka, Jonathan, Brayden, Lincoln and Aubriella; Also survived by many loving friends and family members including Bill W,

Dick enjoyed bowling, playing golf, and was often seen shirtless, sunbathing and enjoying an occasional cigar. He will be deeply missed.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Friday, October 22nd 4:00-8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. On Saturday there will be a service in the Funeral Home at 11:00AM. Burial with Military Honors will be held on a later date at Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
