Richard Daniel Ford of Clearwater, FL passed away at the Golden Living Center in Norwood on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at age 89. Born in Quincy where he was raised and educated, he lived there for 61 years. A WWI Navy veteran, Dick worked for a time at the Fall River Shipyard and then for Western Electric for over 30 years before retiring in 1982. After marrying in 1991, he settled in his winter home in Florida and spent summers in Carver. A member of the Clearwater Country Club, he loved golf, was a member of the American Legion, Charter Member of the Adams Heights Men’s Club and lifetime member of St. John the Baptist Parish.
Beloved husband of Nancy Papciak Ford, Dick is also survived by 3 children, Ted Papciak of Middlefield, CT, Cheryl Papciak-Brooks of Stafford, VA and John Papciak of Travelers Rest, SC; 6 grandchildren, James and Ted Papciak and Jerilyn, Joseph, Carrie and Cathryn Brooks; his sister and brother-in-law, Anne and John Wright of Scituate and one niece and nephew. He was predeceased by 6 siblings.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, October 13 from 3:00 to 6:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Thursday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Church, 44 School St. Quincy. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Mt. Wollaston Cemetery.
