Richard X. Hennelly, 78 of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away September 22, 2013 after a long illness. He was born February 24, 1935 in Boston and lived there most of his life, moving to Port Charlotte in 1980. After serving proudly in the US Navy, he worked as a Police Officer for the Boston Police Department and was a member of the Boston Patrolmen Relief Association, BPOE of Port Charlotte, The American Veteran Association, as well as a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

The beloved husband of Joan Marie (Barrett) Henelly of Port Charlotte, Richard was the loving father of Diane Martini and her husband Robert, Susan Canavan and her husband Joseph of Quincy, step-father of Marie and Michael Falco, dear brother of Patricia Jeria and her husband Max, Ronald Hennelly and his wife Alyce, Ruth Giorgi and the late Tomas & Robert Hennelly; loving grandfather of Kelly, Joey, Ryan, Emily, Taylor and Eva; and great-grandfather of Declan. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, October 6 from 2:00 to 4:00PM with a Funeral Service immediately following at 4:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited.
