Robert A. Louis, age 89, of Braintree, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, and went home to the Lord on April 27, 2012. A WWII Veteran, US Army, Robert graduated from Northeastern University with a BA in Biological Sciences and earned his Master’s in Science Education from Harvard University. He started his teaching career at Grafton High School and then taught in Quincy’s Central Junior High for 35 years where he was head of the Science Dept. and touched many of the lives of his beloved students. After retiring, Robert volunteered as a patient advocate at Quincy Medical Center. A member of the Sons of Lebanon Club and the Nicholas G. Beram Veterans Organization, he enjoyed coaching, gardening and fishing.

The beloved husband of Alice (Demerjian) Louis for 58 years, he was the loving father of Carolyn MacDonald and her husband James of Duxbury, Denise Louis and her husband John Scully of Holbrook, Jo-Ann Driscoll and her husband Kevin of Norwell, Nancy Recchia and her husband Stephen of Tyler, TX and George Louis and his wife Enid of Bridgewater and dear grandfather “Jiddo” of Allison MacDonald, Barry, Michael and Julia Driscoll, Joseph and Stephanie Recchia and Robert and Michael Louis.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 1 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Wednesday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church 550 Washington St. Quincy Point. Burial with Military Honors will be at Braintree Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-1905. stjude.org or to your favorite charity.
