Robert E. Sullivan, “Sully” of Braintree passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at age 82. Raised and educated in Dorchester, he lived most of his life in Quincy, the last 15 years in Braintree and enjoyed winters in Naples, FL. A US Navy veteran in the Pacific Theater of WWII and Korea, he worked as a linotype operator for 40 years at the Boston Globe. Sully worked with Quincy Youth Hockey for 8 years, was a member of the Quincy Lodge of Elks, Braintree Golf Club, Morrissette Post and was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, West Quincy.

The beloved husband for 61 years of Gay Sullivan, Sully was the loving father of Kevin Sullivan and his wife Maureen of Sandwich, Kate Stiffler and her husband Ross of Quincy, Sheila Dellorfano and her husband Joseph of Boston, Maura O’Connor and her husband Joseph of Braintree and Daniel Sullivan of Canton; dear grandfather of Eric, Paul and Lauren Sullivan, Zac and Ryan Stiffler, Elizabeth and Neilla O’Connor and Robert Sullivan; great grandfather of Nolan Sullivan and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, December 22 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Thursday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
