Robert F. Mackenrodt, Sr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Novemnber 24, 2021, in Braintree. Born in South Boston, Robert worked for the Boston Record American Newspaper. Loving this time of the year, Robert was lovingly referred to as Mr. Christmas by his wife and family. Robert’s son said that he always tried to put a smile on someone’s face, whether by joke, or by him being him in his silly ways. He said that it served a dual purpose because it made both people feel uplifted.

Robert was the beloved husband of the late Maureen Mackenrodt; loving father of Donna Mackenrodt of Brockton, Robert F. Mackenrodt Jr. of Braintree; dear grandfather of Scott Hawes and his wife Lindsay of Mansfield, Heather Kinnealey and her husband Matthew of Bridgewater; dear great grandfather of Samantha, Victoria, and Ryan; Robert is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Robert was also the last of fifteen children.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Tuesday, November 30th from 4:00 to 6:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. On Wednesday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM, then there will be a funeral mass at 10:00AM at St. Francis of Assisi, Braintree. Burial with Military Honors will be held at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
