Roberta A. “Edith” (Tangstrom) Provost of Houghs Neck passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at age 98. Born in Boston where she was raised and educated, she lived in Quincy most of her life and worked at the McDonalds on Southern Artery for many years. She was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament’s Ladies Sodality and Choir. Famous for her chocolate cake, Edie enjoyed entertaining for the holidays and loved the beach, boating and travel.

The beloved wife of the late Stanley J. Provost, she was the loving mother of John S. Provost of Middleton, Roberta Casey, Marion Knudsen, Janice Gilmore and Teri Murphy, all of Quincy, Lorraine Provost of Pembroke and Rhonda Provost-Benyo of CA; dear sister of Jean Rudolph of Quincy, Gladys Prout of Attleboro, Gloria Vecoli of RI, Doris Leedham of NH and the late Rosa Dominique and Walter and Albert Tangstrom. Edie is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday, November 22 from 2:00 to 6:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. On Monday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at Holy Trinity Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1015 Sea St. Quincy. Burial is at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
