Roberta J. (Frizzell ) McRae of Quincy died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on May 24, 2013. The beloved wife of 56 years to Arthur B. McRae, she was the loving mother of Janet McRae, Maryanne Pinault and her husband Russell, and Leslie McRae; proud Nana to Keith and Lindsey Pinault, Taylor O’Neill and Rachel and Kyle Laberge. Born in Boston, Rita graduated from Jamaica Plain High School in 1955. While living in Dorchester and Stoughton for a time, she was a longtime Quincy resident, having moved there in 1967.She began her working career as a telephone operator for the New England Telephone Company, returning after her children were grown to the same company by then call Nynex and later Verizon, at their Braintree Accounting Center. Though she worked at the phone company for many years, Roberta considered her “career” to raising her children and spoiling her grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 29 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Thursday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at St. John the Baptist Church 44 School St. Quincy. Burial is at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
