Obituaries

Ruth E. Tuffy of Quincy passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at age 92. Born in Boston where she was raised and educated, she lived in Houghs Neck, Quincy most of her life and worked as a clerk for the US Postal Service. Active well into her later years, Ruth was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Ladies Sodality, the Boston Postal Chorus, DAV Chapter 10 and the Beechwood Center Walking Club.

The loving wife of the late James F. Tuffy, Ruth was the beloved mother of James C. Tuffy and his wife Kathy of Braintree, Elaine R. Lantz and her fiance Richard Frechette of Worcester, Catherine M. Kenney and her husband Ed of Braintree and Colleen M. Peterson and her husband Walter of Quincy; dear grandmother of Colleen, David, Greg and his wife Danielle, Carl and his wife Kristina, Eric and his fiancee Kelly; Andrew and his wife Rosana, Patrick, Christopher and his wife Kristen, and Thomas; great grandmother of 12; great-great grandmother of 1; sister of the late Charles Connor and Marjorie Caswell; and is also survived by her caretaker Ginny Thompson and her dear friend Ruth Ellen Galligan.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours which will be held on Sunday, July 2 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. On Monday there will be a Funeral Service in the funeral home chapel at 10:00AM. Burial is at Pine Hill Cemetery, W. Quincy.
