Stephen P. Donovan of Braintree passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at age 55. Born in Boston, he was raised and educated in Milton and lived in Braintree for 28 years. Following the death of his father when he was a teenager, he and his brother co-owned the Donovan Service Station in Fields Corner, Dorchester. Most recently, he worked for the Council on Aging in Braintree.  Steve’s passion was being a father and spending time with his family. He was very involved in Braintree Youth Sports and coached all three of his children in soccer, softball, and basketball. He never missed attending any of their activities. He enjoyed working in his yard and staying abreast of politics. He was recently described as someone who helped others to realize that emotion, passion and genuineness is how we all connect as a human being.

The beloved husband of Laura (Bertolon) Donovan to whom he was married for 28 years, Steve was the loving father of Caitlyn, Emily, and Mark Donovan, all of Braintree; beloved son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Donovan; dear brother of Thomas Donovan of Braintree, Kathleen McGinnis, Tracy Coombs, both of Kingston, Timothy Donovan of Boston and the late Elizabeth Briggs. He was also the cherished brother-in-law of Carol and Michael Dorn of Braintree, Henry and Donna Bertolon of Beverly, Thomas and Marie Bertolon of Arizona and the late William and Nancy DiPaolo of Quincy. He was adored by his many nieces and nephews who knew him as ‘Uncle Stevie’ and loved to hear his stories.

Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, February 14 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited.
