Theresa A. Gentile, a longtime resident of Quincy, died Wednesday July 8 at the William B. Rice Eventide Home. She was 96 years old. Born and raised in Italy, she immigrated to the United States in March 1930 and moved to Quincy. She worked as a seamstress during World War II and married the late Louis Gentile May 20, 1944. Mrs. Gentile expressed her creativity through designing garments and her home cooking. Her home was a respite for many. She loved to travel and was an avid bowler for years, a member of many leagues until the age of 95. Beloved wife of the late Louis Gentile. Loving mother of Theresa A. Poule and her husband William of Dedham, Lorraine G. Haynes and her husband Ric of Quincy and Louis A. Gentile and his wife Rosemarie of Scituate. Devoted grandmother of Lisa M. Poule of Dedham, Kristen A. Burm of Hingham and James Gentile of Scituate. Great-grandmother of Alexandra M. Poule, Julia H. Burm, Alana T. Burm, Nikolas Poule and Brendan D. Burm. Sister of Josephine DiTocco of Hingham and the late John DiPiero and Anna Masciarelli of Italy. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home, 74 Elm St., Quincy Center on Monday, July 13 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount Wollaston Cemetery.
