Theresa M. “Terry” (Powers) Sophis of Quincy passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at age 81. Born in Boston, she lived in Quincy most of her life and graduated from North Quincy High School. Terry worked for many years as a home health aide for Catholic Charities before retiring in 1992, was a member of St. Mary’s Seniors, a client of Hancock Park Adult Day Health and enjoyed music and trivia.

The loving wife for 52 years of the late Frank M. Sophis, Terry was the devoted mother of Janet M. Pratt of Quincy, Gregory Sophis of Whitman, Mark F. Sophis of Brockton, John M. Sophis of Natick and Georgia T. Sophis of FL and is also survived by nine beloved grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her nine siblings, Rita Wall, Anne Quinn, Mildred Ryan Scanlan, Dorothy Haddaway, Elizabeth McFadd, James Powers, Carol O’Donnell, Robert Powers and Mabel ‘Lovey” Powers.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, August 16 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Wednesday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 8:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00am at St. Mary’s Church 115 Crescent St. Quincy. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
