Obituaries

Thomas J. Kane of Hough’s Neck passed away on Friday, December 2, 2011 at age 83. Born in Boston where he was raised and educated, he lived in Quincy since 1968 and worked as a longshoreman for the Lumber Handler’s Union for 45 years before retiring in 1991.

The beloved husband of the late Grace M. “Millie” (Tucker) Kane, Tom was the loving father of Robert J. Kane of Quincy and the late Thomas W. Kane; dear grandfather of Thomas J., Robert M., Ryan J. and the late Michael Kane; great-grandfather of Jacquelyn and Alexandria; father-in-law Roberta Kane; brother of Catherine Mullen of Quincy and the late Martin and John Kane and Mary Lyons; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, December 6 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Wednesday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at Holy Trinity Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1017 Sea St. Quincy. Burial is at Pine Hill Cemetery, W. Quincy.
