Obituaries

Vera A. (Paternesi) Falcione of Quincy passed away at her home with her family at her side on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at age 89. Born and raised in Quincy where she was a lifelong resident, she graduated from Quincy High School, Class of 1940. After working as a secretary in the office of the General Superintendent at Bethlehem Steel, Vera worked for the City of Quincy Water Dept. for 20 years and was the Dept. manager for many years before retiring in 1990. She also volunteered at the Adams Shore Library in the Reading Roundup Program for Children and was a member of the Merry Shores Senior Group.

The beloved mother of Linda Holbrook of Weymouth, she was the dear grandmother of Michelle Holbrook Gott and her husband Keith of Quincy and Leanne M. Holbrook Noonan of Quincy; great grandmother “Gigi” of Kayla Holbrook, Olivia Noonan and Nicholas Gott; loving sister of the late Edith Ayer, Joseph, Henry and Julio Verlicco, Amelia O’Neill, Rose Baril and Frances Gilbert; and is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mattea Verlicco and brother-in-law, Philip Baril, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 29 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Friday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Parish, Our Lady of Good Counsel Church 227 Sea St. Quincy. Burial will be at Mt. Wollaston Cemetery.
