Vildo “Val” J. Battista of Braintree passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at age 82. Born in Quincy where he was raised and educated, he moved to Braintree in 1968. A Korean War veteran, US Air Force, he received his Bachelor’s Degree with honors from Northeastern University and worked as an electrical engineer for Sylvania and General Dynamics. The beloved husband for 57 years of Alice A. (Mariano) Battista, Vildo was the loving father of Valerie Battista of Whitman and John Battista of Granada Hills, CA; dear grandfather of Alyssa Andy, Jason Vittoriso and Giana Vittoriso; brother of Luigi “Geno” Battista of Eastport, ME, Felix “Phil” Battista of Westfield, NJ, Carmela “Cam” Lourie of NJ and the late M. Joseph “Muss” Battista of Quincy; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, December 2 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Tuesday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Church 44 School St. Quincy Burial is at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
