Bill Dwyer of Quincy and Marco Island, FL, died peacefully on Monday, December 13, 2010 at age 89. Born in Boston, he was raised and educated in Quincy and lived there all his life. A WWII Navy veteran, he served on a PT Boat in the Pacific Theater. The owner of Dwyer Oil Company, which he founded in 1947, Bill was also a partner with his brother Tony in the Samoset Service Station in Merrymount. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree; Hough’s Neck American Legion and the VFW Bryant Post.

The beloved husband of the late Marion E. (Fanning) Dwyer, Bill was the loving father of William M. Dwyer and his wife Jan, Michael J. Dwyer and his wife Elaine, Susan M. Dwyer and Patrick Dwyer, all of Quincy, dear grandfather of Kerry, Kristen and Katelyn and brother of Evelyn “Pat” Morrisson of Quincy and the late Ellen Schwaller of Chicago and Anthony “Tony” Dwyer of Meredith, NH.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, December 16 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Friday, there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Parish, Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 227 Sea St. Quincy. Burial will be at Mt. Wollaston Cemetery.
