William J. “Bill” Farrell of Braintree passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at age 87. A WWII US Navy Veteran, he was raised in Quincy and graduated from Quincy High, Class of 1942 and UMass Amherst Class of 1951. Bill worked as a civil engineer for the US Army Corps of Engineers for 35 years before retiring.

The beloved husband of Rose M. (Marchetti) Farrell, to whom he was married for 54 years, Bill was the loving father of Wallace Farrell of Braintree, Susan MacIndewar and her husband William of Melrose, William Farrell of Braintree and Joanne Sanderson and her husband Robert of Weymouth; dear grandfather of Jodi, Brandon, Daniel, William, Abigail, Shanlin and Casey; brother of Terence Farrell of Weymouth; and is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, June 17 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center. Family and friends are invited. On Monday there will be a gathering at the funeral home at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at St. Joseph’s Church 550 Washington St. Quincy Point. Burial will be private.
